Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs:

Depending on the nature of your loss, right now you probably have more questions than answers.  Understanding that you probably aren't familiar with Inman and Associates or with our core business, public adjusting, we have put together a list of frequently asked questions with brief responses for your review.

If you have a question that we have not covered, please give us a call or send us a note via the Comment/Contact form on the  Contact Us page.

Following are the FAQs.

Q)  What does a Public Adjuster do?

A)  Your insurance company has trained adjusters whose sole purpose is to protect its interest, while a Public Adjuster protects yours.

Q)  My insurance company had a dumpster delivered to my house and wants to start disposing of my damaged personal belongings.  Should I let them?

A)  Never allow your personal property to be removed from your home until every item has been inventoried. In order to be compensated for an item there needs to be a record that it existed.

Q) Will using a Public Adjuster cause my insurance company to raise my homeowner's insurance premiums?

A) No it won't. A Public Adjuster does not affect the terms of your insurance policy, but does help to insure that you receive the benefits that you deserve in the event of a covered loss.

Q) Are there ever instances when using a Public Adjuster will not be advantageous?

A) Yes, and if this is found to be the case with your loss, Inman and Associates will provide you with suggestions to help you maximize your recovery independently.

Q) Since the Public Adjuster works on the behalf of the insured, what are their fees and when do they get paid?

A) Inman and Associates' fee is based on a set percentage of your loss recovery and we are not paid until the claim is settled and the settlement check is received from your insurance company.

Q) How long will it take to settle my claim?

A) Though there are inherent similarities, every loss recovery process is unique due to its circumstances.  Putting aside the basic scope of a loss, lulls in activities by insurance companies, contractors and even homeowners tend to have a cumulative effect on the duration of the recovery process.

Q) Are all Public Adjusters alike?

A) No, as is the case in any other walk of life there are differences in personality and approach.  Some Public Adjusters are quick to say what they will do, but at Inman and Associates we do what we say.

Q)  Is Inman and Associates able to represent small business owners in the event of an insured loss?
A) Yes, we can.  Entrepreneurs face many challenges in the daily operation of their business.  The services provided by Inman and Associates allow small business owners to focus on running their business, when it counts the most!

Q) What if there are no Public Adjusters in my area?

A) At Inman and Associates, we are proud to offer our services to clients in counties throughout the state of Missouri and the state of Illinois.
